What do we do in response to the saving work of Jesus Christ? Repent and be baptized (Acts 2). To repent and to be baptized are tied together here. While baptism is not what saves you, it is a step of obedience in the life of following Jesus.

In all of the apostle Luke's writing, especially Acts 2, the word baptizow consistently means immersion in water, unless it's explicitly stated otherwise (see Acts 8, 10 and 19). Scholars like F.F. Bruce, Craig Keener, and Marshall affirm this point–Peter is talking about water baptism, not a symbolic or inward experience. A key rule in understanding scripture is using the author's dictionary; and if Luke consistently refers to water baptism (when no distinction is made), that's how we should understand this. In Acts 2, Peter is giving a call to repentance with a pledge of allegiance through water baptism. He's saying: Turn from your sin. Declare your loyalty. Be washed in water. And receive the gift of God - the Holy Spirit.

Baptism into the Christian faith is not an annual subscription, it is a step of obedience in response to salvation in Christ. However, if you were baptized as an infant, we would suggest getting baptized as a step of obedience now as you make the conscious decision to align yourself in Christ.
